Panic Away a Panic Attack

Filed under: Others — Victor Connor @ Mar 30th, 2009

I have a relative who was once plagued by panic attack. All I knew was she had to see a psychiatrist for years and popped many, many expensive pills before she was considered “healed”.  When I chanced upon Panic Away, curiosity led me to read not only the information but also the feedback of its fans and supporters.

For the benefits of the health conscious community here, I have extracted some salient information from Panic Away on panic or anxiety attack.

There is one key factor that makes the difference between those who fully eliminate panic attacks from their lives and those who do not. The key ingredient is not medication, lifestyle changes, or relaxation exercises. It is when the individual no longer fears the thought of having a panic attack.

This may seem like a simplified and obvious observation but give it careful consideration. The one thing that has you searching for a solution to anxiety and panic attacks this very moment is the fear of having another one.

The first time a person experiences a panic attack it can feel like their world is falling down around them. Nowhere feels safe as the anxiety becomes like a stalker lurking in the background.

When this happens people begin to either avoid situations that make them anxious or they medicate themselves to the point where they are numb to the fear. I am sure you will agree neither of the above is a satisfactory solution.

You are probably well aware that a panic attack is a ‘fight or flight’ response to a perceived threat. The reason the human brain responds like this goes back to our prehistoric past where humans needed their bodies to respond quickly to a perceived physical threat. What this new research is telling us, is that people’s mental activity during a panic attack is suddenly moving to the mid brain, resulting in the heightened state of fear and panic. In short, a separate part of your brain becomes more active during a panic attack.

The key to being panic attack free is to to break the fear of having another panic attack.  If you know someone suffering from panic attack, share the information with them. If they are not in the position to help themselves, get their caregivers to read it. I wish I knew this information some years back.

 What causes Cellulite?

Filed under: Healthy Lifestyle — Vivienne Quek @ Mar 22nd, 2009

The orange peel appearance of skin known as cellulite results from the abnormal storage of fat in the skin and subcutaneous connective tissue retraction and is more common in women.

Whether you are young of elderly, underweight or overweight, you are likely to be plagued by cellulite and the problem unfortunately tend to worsen over time. Gradually, the lumpy orange peel effect of cellulite become more pronounced on the hips, abdomen, thighs and buttocks.

A sedentary lifestyle and unbalance diet will further contribute to the development of cellulite and the appearance of localised rolls of fat. In women, the tissues is particularly sensitive to variations in hormone levels (menstrual cycle, pregnancy, menopause) which promote the storage and build up of fat reserves.

According to Joey Atlas, Publisher and Editor of “The Cellulite Reduction Report”:

Several years ago, Neil Solomon, M.D., conducted a double-blind study of 100 people to see whether “cellulite” differed from ordinary fat. Specimens of regular fat and lumpy fat were obtained by a needle biopsy procedure and given to pathologists for analysis and comparison…

No differences between the two types of fat samples were found.

More recently, researchers at Rockefeller Institute used ultrasonography, microscopic examinations, and fat-metabolism studies to see if “cellulite affected” and unaffected skin areas differed in seven healthy adult subjects – five women, two men; four of them “cellulite” affected, three unaffected.

Not surprisingly – the researchers concluded: (a) certain characteristics of skin make women more prone than men to develop the appearance of “cellulite”; and (b) there were no differences in the appearance or function of the fatty tissue or the regional blood flow between “cellulite” affected and unaffected body areas within these individuals…

There are two things in life that a sage must preserve at every sacrifice, the coats of his stomach and the enamel of his teeth. Some evils admit of consolations, but there are no comforters for dyspepsia and the toothache.

Healthy Drink #6. Tomato Juice

According to Dr Beh Suan Tiong, an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Thomson Medical centre said the use of Epidural remains one of the biggest conceptions people have.

It use has been widely debated but adverse consequence have not yet been proven. On the other hand, the effectiveness of the epidural outweighs other options like pethidine injection. Pethidine is a drug used to relieve severe pain during labour or after a surgery providing relief up to 5-6 hours.

People with less than 8 hours of sleep were 3 times more likely to develop a cold compared to those who slept 8 hours and more. Those who sent as little as 25 minutes tossing and turning faced more than 5 times the risk of sniffling and sneezing.

A January report in the Archives of Internal Medicine showed that “Very small disruption in sleep, very small losses in terms of duration of sleep were associated with pretty big increase in your probability of getting sick if you’re exposed to a virus” sad lead reseracher, Sheldon Cohen, a professor of psychology at Carnegie Mellon University.
