Listen to Joyeous Music to Maintain Good Heart Health

According to Dr Michael Miller, director of preventive cardiology at the University of Maryland, listen to music to maintain good heart health.

Because your heart will likely soar at the sound of joyeous music.  That’s a good sign.

Dr Miller’s findings were reported at the annual meeting of the Amercian Heart Association in New Orlean in November 2008. WebMD reportedthat 10 volunteers identified specific music that made them feel a sense of joy. While the music is being played, the researchers used an ultrasound device to measure how well each person’s blood vessels responded to a sudden increase of blood flow. The volunteers’ blood vessels dilated by 26% when they heard joyeous music. That is a very healthy sign according to the good doctor.

What exactly is joyous music? Dr Miller says it depends on the individual. It’s not the type of music that counts but a person’s response to it.

Easiest (& virtually unknown, unappreciated, unfollowed) way to Flat Abs!

Lets consider what theoreticaly constitutes an IDEAL diet to effortlessly “manifest” a flat tummy :)

1. A SATIATING low calories intake – otherwise nobody can stick with it.

2. Yummilicious fare one excitingly looks forward to – otherwise one may not even consider it beyond the 1st meal / bite.

3. Quick ‘n Easy recipes to dish out instant sensations – practical to follow.

4. Foods that inherently speeds up the metabolism – no contrived manipulations needed.

6. Naturally deplaques the fat & calcium deposits along the blood vessels – otherwise NO matter how much exercise you do, they cannot & do not chelate the stuff stuck perennially on the internal walls of veins & arteries (not just in torso but elsewhere else as well).

7. Easiest to digest – so that the body fully absorbs & actually uses all the promised goodies.

8. Fully organic – so that we stay fully detoxified all the time. High protein, low fat & other artificial so-called-healthy diets & supplements introduce lots of toxins, increasing the workload of all our organs.

9. Cost-effective to follow – no “pay-big-money-to-get-bulk-discount” scams where you have to shell out huge advances before you even know if it’s ever gonna work for you..

10. Sustainable gains – no remissions because it’s perfectly sensible & delicately balanced.

We delve upon all this in the non-commercial super-myth-busting ‘Primal Health-Bites‘ standard reference gazette. If a flat tummy is synonymous with a healthy attractive physique May i invite you to…

It’s my open challenge to all those who pick the gauntlet to propose a better nutritional approach if they ever come across any that holistically delivers faster returns.

Higher Risk of Getting PMS for Woman Smoker

Filed under: Stop Smoking — Victor Connor @ Nov 23rd, 2008

According to Dr Elizabeth Bertone-Johnson of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and her colleagues, smoking increases the risk of moderate to severe PMS and provides another reason for women especially adolescents and young women, not to smoke.

Smoking has been shown to affect levels of several different hormones and the handful of studies looking into PMS and smoking have suggested that women with the syndrome are more likely to be smokers.

These researchers looked at a subset of women who were PMS-free during the first 2 years of the study, comparing 1057 who did go on to develop PMS to 1968 who did not.

The women who were current smokers were 2.1 times more likely than non smokers to report PMS within 2 -4 years. Women who picked up smoking at a tender age had their risk increases.  Dr Bertone- Johnson said,

“Previous studies suggested that smoking may alter levels of oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone and other hormones, many of which may be involved in the development of PMS.”

“Some studies have found that smokers have shorter and more irregular menstrual cycles than non-smokers”

“Smoking may also lower levels of vitamin D in the body, which also may increase a woman’s risk of developing PMS”.

Smoking Can Alter A Woman’s Body Shape

Filed under: Stop Smoking — Victor Connor @ Nov 12th, 2008

Smoking creates an imbalance in women’s hormone levels, which leads to changes in body shape.

Some folks said smokers are thinner than non-smokers. However, smoking actually affects the endocrinal system – the glands that secrete hormones – and changes body shape, increasing the waist-to-hip ratio. So, despite possibly weighing less, smokers can be pot-bellied with spindly legs. This is attributed to smoking upsetting the hormone levels. This, in turn, resulted in smokers storing normal amount of fat in an abnormal way. So smokers tend to acquire an ‘apple’ shape.

Stop smoking means your body can get back to normal and recover from the effects of smoking. You want to look young, you have to delay the process of aging. Smoking accelerated the process of aging.

“The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they’ll ease
Your will they’ll mend
And charge you not a shilling.”

Homemade Eczema Treatment (9): Almond Oil with Vitamin E

Filed under: Eczema — Vivienne Quek @ Nov 8th, 2008

This is what I learned from a brochure in one of the health stores. I found it quite effective. The dryness and itchiness have somewhat subsided a fair bit after a couple of days.

I made a lotion with pure oil and Vitamin E. Pure almond oil is easily available. However, if you are willing to spend a little more, you can opt for apricot kennel oil. Basically any natural oil will do so long they moisturize your skin.

There are 2 ways to get Vitamin E.  Option 1 is to use pure Vitamin E oil sold in bottles. Option 2 is to get Vitamin E capsules from your local health shop. Pure Vitamin E oil is much more costlier but you can’t argue about the richness or the quality. Vitamin E capsules are a lot more affordable. Use a pin to prick open one of the capsules and add to the pure almond oil. The proportion is up to you but I generally add 2 – 3 thick drops to a teaspoon of oil.

You can also add some oats to the Vitamin E-Oil lotion to thicken it up and apply it like a paste. It is a little messy and you might want to use a gauze or something airy to cover the paste. Otherwise, do it my way  – Apply the mixture and then relax in front of the TV or with a good book for a good 60-90 minutes. By the time, your skin is nourished by the time you clean the oat residue off.
