Why Kids Should Eat 2 Servings of Dairy Food A Day?

Filed under: Healthy Eating — Vivienne Quek @ Dec 30th, 2008

According to Dr Lynn L Moore of Boston University School of Medicine and her colleagues,   children who ate at least 2 servings of dairy foods a day throughout their childhood had denser bones in their teens, compared to their peers who don’t.

The researchers analyzed data from the Framingham Children’s Study for 106 children who were followed from 1987 when they were 3 to 5 years old, to 1999. Several 3-day food diaries were collected throughout the course of the study and the participants had bone scans when thery were 15-17 years old.

Study participants who averaged 2 or more servings of dairy foods a day throughout their childhood had a higher bone mineral density than those who ate less, Children who ate 4 or more servings of meat or another protein source also had denser bones. Dairy and protein seemed to have additive effects, with children who cosumed the most of both types of food having the densest, largest bones; those who consumed the least had the thinnest bones.

Well, Dr Moore concluded that “This findings of this study confirm the importance of a diet rich in dairy and other protein sources on adolescent bone mass”.

 Stay Clear of Creamy Soup

Filed under: Healthy Eating — Vivienne Quek @ Dec 16th, 2008

My friend who loves her soups cannot understand why she couldn’t lose weight when she changed her diets to mostly salads, soups and bread rolls.

My suspicion is her fondness of rich and thick soup. I know cream of potato soup or cream of mushroom soup or cream of chicken soup and beef strongnafoff are super starter to a nice lunch or dinner. However, soups like these are stuffed with cream, cheese and meat. In other words, they are loaded with calories. When you add croutons or eat them with bread rolls, pasta, rice, you will end up with even more calories. Like it or not, you might just grow  horizontally in no time.

Stay clear when you think of soup. Choose broth-based and vegetable based soups and stews. They can filled the stomach but with much lesser calories. If you like Chinese food, go find a Chinese Soup receipe bookfor soups. We have lots of clear soups made completely without cream, cheese, oil or butter.

Kinetin : An anti-oxidative LONGEVITY rejuvenator

Ever heard of the plant hormone KINETIN? It delays the onset of many cellular and biochemical characteristics associated with cellular aging of cultured human cells.

Some of the main effects by using the Hayflick system of human fibroblast aging are:

- maintaining the youthful morphology for much longer period (up to 95% of completed lifespan)
- reversing senescent morphology.
- maintaining youthful pattern of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis.
- slowing down the rate of accumulation of age-pigment like things.

These effects can be best seen as “preventive” effects instead of reversion of ageing. Cells grown continuously stay younger. Most importantly, these effects are achieved without interfering with the maximum proliferative capacity. No additonal cell divisions are induced. This is unlike all other anti-ageing things reported for cell cultures for example, FGF, PDGF, ginseng, carnosine. All those things induce additional cell divisions which can be potentially harmful in terms of making cells move on a path to immortalization (here meaning cancer.)

Kinetin is N6-furfunyadenine, a modified base that can get incorporated in tRNA. … in our experiments Kinetin is the most effective.

Best natural source of kinetin related cytokinins are: all germinating seeds and growing tips.

The paper: Kinetin delays the onset of ageing characteristics in human fibroblasts, by SIS Rattan & BFC Clark is in Biochemical Biophysical Research Communications, vol 201. Compiled from USENET bionet.molbio.ageing on new “Anti-Ageing Discoveries”.

 Red Spots on the Skin

Filed under: Others — Vivienne Quek @ Dec 9th, 2008

Have you noticed those tiny little red spots on your skin?

These red spots are likely to be Campell de Morgan spots or cherry angiomas. These are not moles. They are actually proliferation of tiny blood vessels.

It is not known why these spots form but they usually arise in middle age folks and those older. Basically, these spots are found to be quite harmless.

They can be removed by cautery (using an electric pencil) or an ablative laser by a qualified doctor. However such treatment may produce side effects like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (a dark colour which may take months or years to fade) and rarely, scarring.

Remove Dis Ease to Rid of Disease

Filed under: Cures & Treatments — Doctor Bob Koh @ Dec 6th, 2008

Hi Friends,

I just came back from Malaysia after treating the lady doctor for Poly Myositis. She is showing good progress and by March 09, will be able to share with you all whether I have a total and complete solution for this condition, considered as incurable by mainstream conventional medicine.

Just for your information, with any incurable disease, all we need to do is really to improve the body’s ability to remove all the dis ease in the body and the disease will be eventually taken care of by the body’s miraculous system of self-healing.

That’s how I am able to offer wholesome and total solutions for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Migraines, removal of all abnormal growths, polyps, cysts/fibroids, treat endometriosis without surgery.

There is currently no meaningful solution in conventional medicine for the above disease and conditions. An integrative approach will offer better quality health care and results.

This lady doctor whom I am treating for Poly Myositis, her husband is a Professor in Medicine and he  paid me the highest compliment when he said that every medical doctor should have me as their wellness specialist. Well, he made my day. He made the remarks after he saw the improvements his wife is getting from my treatments.

Generally the Title “Dr” is used for Doctors trained in mainstream Conventional Medicine. That’s why I differentiate myself by using the Title “Doctor” as a Doctor is someone who treats the sick and gets them well, and that’s what I do as my primary function.

The difference is that I made patients well and reduce their needs for drugs and surgical procedures. I used 8 different modalities to help the patient achieve a state where the body is effective and efficient in dealing with its challenges and increase the body’s efficacy in treating itself.

To achieve this I study the root cause of patients before I develop the treatment procedure. I am a practitioner in Functional Medicine, which studies the root cause of disease and conditions rather than just treat the symptoms.

OK, folks, will update you health conscious people at a later date.

Warmest Regards
Doctor Bob Koh

Treating 4th Stage Cancer Patient in Nov 2008

Filed under: Cancer — Doctor Bob Koh @ Dec 4th, 2008

Recently on 20th November 2008, I was invited to see a 4th Stage cancer patient. He was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer back in 2004. He also had thyroidectomy to remove his thyroids and received radiotherapy. His cancer went into remission and he was cleared of cancer.

4 years later, the cancer came back ferociously. It spread all over, from his brain, his lungs, his bones and even to his spleen. The cancer spread was massive and widespread. He was given about 2-3 months to live.

When we don’t treat cancer at the root, that’s what could happen.

I have started treatment and I will know if the treatment protocols will work in about 2 weeks time. When he first got cancer, he was 28 yrs old. This man is now 32 years old and he still has a long way to go. I want to help him to recover. However, he is facing financial challenges as he has spent lots of money over the years to fight cancer. It is really sad that the treatments he got previously did not rid cancer at the root cause.

If the initial results shows that he has a chance to survive, I hope to find people with charitable heart to assist in donations to help him. I and my team will match the donations received dollar for dollar.

For those people with family history of cancer, they should contact me to do a hair sample analysis, which will detect even very early stage cancer that may not be detectable using conventional medicine’s methodologies.

There is now a systematic procedure to prevent all types of cancer, and people should not take drastic measures just because they are at high risk to have cancer.

Some of you may have read the The Sunday Times in October 2007, where a young and unmarried woman her ovaries had her removed, simply because her mom, aunties and 2 elder sisters had ovarian cancer. She saw herself as a high risk case to develop ovarian cancer.

If you folks know of people with genetic risk for cancer, just click on this link Contact Us and you can reach me for consultation or to do a hair analysis. Please, there is NO need for any drastic actions, like what the lady above did.

Warm rgds
Doctor Bob Koh

Dear Friends:

Just a quick update on my 53 years old male Stage 3 colon cancer patient. Actually I should call him former cancer patient. It is now 8 months into his treatment and the recent hair analysis sample taken on late November 2008, showed that he is CLEAR of carcinoma, and that his cancerous tumor is now just a benign tumor.

If you can recall his hair sample also reveal he had early stage lung cancer as well. Now his lungs are at +21 optimal health condition, and his lymphatic system is at optimum health at +21.

 Can Soya Really Improve Cholesterol?

Filed under: Healthy Eating — Vivienne Quek @ Dec 1st, 2008

Can soya lower cholesterol?

It seems so. Especially when the USA’s FDA allowed companies to claim that 25g of soya protein a day, in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, “may reduce the risk of heart disease”. The agency evaluated studies and concluded that soya could cut cholesterol.

However, in 2006, an Americal Heart Association advisory panel reviewed a decade of studies and determined that soya product had no significant effects on good cholesterol or HDL, or triglycerides (fat in the blood), and little or no ability to lower “bad” cholesterol or LDL.

Another study published in August in The Americal Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that taking 24g of soya protein daily had no “significant effect on plasma LDL.” in people with mildl elevated cholesterol.

However, another line of research shows that soya seems to help if soya is taken with foods that’s low in fat and high in fibre.

So there is some evidence that soya can improve cholesterol but nothing is concrete.
